Training First and Foremost
A top level training standard for personnel working in the oil industry supply chain must ensure the highest degree of safety in the operations carried out throughout the entire life cycle of the well, must focus on prevention, awareness and management of incidents with the goal of preventing uncontrolled release of hydrocarbons, which are harmful for the physical safety of the people, for the environment and for the reputation of the company.
Pergemine Training Center has been accredited since 1998 by the IWCF - International Well Control Forum, a body focusing on training, accreditation and certification of oil and gas well control.
The Training Center provides Well Control courses for Level 1, 2, 3, and 4 compliant with IWCF for all the positions involved in upstream for on-shore drilling activities with surface BOP, according to the guidelines issued by the IOGP (International Association of Oil and Gas Producers).
The Training Center is run by teaching personnel IWCF qualified as Instructors (trainers) as well as Assessors for all the courses. Within its facility, it offers all the educational and technological supports needed to complete the programmes as required by applicable IWCF protocols.
TDue to the impact of COVID-19 on in-classroom training, Pergemine introduced virtual training programmes in 2020. This alternative training method has allowed the control personnel to maintain the proficiency level needed, despite travel restrictions and social distancing measures. By supporting on-line training we were able to provide an accessible and affordable solution that, to this day, is of immediate benefit for our members: social distancing, savings, easy management.
LEVEL 2 COURSES: Operation Team Personnel Training
Basic training module for well control, for operation team members working in roles that contribute directly to creating, inspecting or controlling the well: Derrickman, Assistant Driller, Operators of Service providers.
LEVEL 3 COURSES: Equipment Operation Training
This course is recommended for all roles required to take corrective actions in shutting a well: Driller, Assistant Driller and equivalent positions in well completion operations, well servicing or intervention activities. This training level is adapted to the specific environment, to the type of well control equipment used in the classroom lessons and scenarios with written drills and simulations.
LEVEL 4 COURSES: Supervisor Training
This level is dedicated to those involved in decision-making and oversight of the actions to be taken in implementing consistent practices ensuring primary control and well integrity. In case of abnormal situations or deteriorating conditions, the Supervisor shall analyse the situation, develop plans to reduce the impact to a minimum and return to standard operating conditions.
